World of Warcraft Mage Class T-Shirt

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Regardless of whether you are fire, frost, or arcane, if you are a mage, you are dishing out some serious DPS. This shirt honors the mage in all of their destructive (and sheeping) glory.

Customer Review: It’s cool because it’s wow, but it’s not Calvin Klien
So the shirt is awesome because it’s WoW, but the quality pretty much sucks. The material was VERY thin and started fraying after only 4 or 5 washes. I’ll buy another because I like to advertise my Wow-Geekyness, but not because it’s good quality.

Customer Review: Nice shirt
This is a very nice shirt.I gave it four stars because the XL size I got it’s actually a L,even though the tag indicates XL,and that’s before we washed it.Next time I will get a size bigger.

The Book of Games Volume 2: The Ultimate Reference on PC & Video Games (Book of Games series)

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

This second volume is a compendium of video game synopses as well as a feast for the eyes with literally thousands of vivid, high-resolution screen shots; it provides a comprehensive visual tour through the world of PC and video gaming. Sorted by genre, more than 100 of the latest, most exciting software titles are reviewed with information of interest to players, parents, and industry professionals. Each game is featured in a two-page spread that includes detailed game summaries, analysis, and strategies; nine in-game screen shots; lists of games with similar skill and strategy requirements; appropriate age range; notes ESRB content ratings; complete technological specifications; and more. Feature stories are included throughout the book, covering game-related topics such as multiplayer online gaming, games in movies, and the future of gaming. The book also includes useful reference tools such as an illustrated glossary, an overview of game publishers, and information on current hardware platforms such as Sony’s new PS3, Nintendo’s Wii, and handheld systems, including the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.

Customer Review: A fantastic book about games.
If you are a gamer like my self then the Bookofgames books are something you should really pick up.The book goes into great detail when it comes to pictures of the games and it does a great job of telling you what the game is really about plus it tells how many people can play it and what types of reviews the game is getting.

You really should check the book out its great for any gamer out there.

Customer Review: great gaming coffeetable book
The 2nd edition to this gaming reference series makes a fine coffeetable book or for a quick browse for short snippet info on gaming titles. By all means, this is not a book of in-depth reviews, the titles are covered very briefly (summarised) and categorised according to genre/replayability value/plot sypnosis. If you need comprehensive info on gaming titles, you’d do better on gaming mags or websites. However, it remains a good collector’s item as most of your favourite games are included with nice colored screenshots, which makes it a fine addition to your gaming library for all gaming fans. I was very impressed by this 2nd edition in that it included some very recent games which I thought would not make it in before the release date. The only disappointment is that the 2nd edition came in paperback whereas my 1st edition was a hardcover.

Customer Review: Decent aid for WoW
This reference work may have been more helpful when it first came out, but now it lags behind the actual content that it is attempting to reveal. The work covers all of the instances from the original game (before any patches) and does so in alphabetical order as opposed to a more-helpful level-of-instance organization. On its own merits, it provides a sound basic understanding of the instances level 1-60 players may encounter. In addition, it also goes into the single and chain quests for each faction that are part of each dungeon–especially helpful if you want to go after Onyxia, for example, which involves the longest chain in the pre-BC game.

The work does suffer from several problems, though. Blizzard has released numerous patches and updates since the book’s publication, rendering much of the content obsolete. The typeface and layout of the book tend to be quite wearying on the eyes, so spending a lot of time reading it in one sitting is not advisable. Finally, Brady seems to have cut the budget for proofreading, as there are numerous spelling and typographical errors in the work. This last point may seem trivial, but if WoW had as many mistakes in it as this book has, gamers would have run away from it in frustration long ago.

While this work is still helpful in several aspects, its age (in computer gaming terms, anyway) prevents it from being an end-all, be-all for the WoW gamer. The reader should use it for a general overview of what a dungeon is all about, but then should use the constantly-updated resources online to give the specifics as to how to run each dungeon and to keep up with all the modifications that Blizzard has made since this work’s publication.

Customer Review: Wow players must have
There is no doubt you have spent your money in the right place if you buy this book. Wanna run dungeons one time, with all the quests in your log, buy this book and its made simple.

15 Minutes of Fame: Quadriplegic player attacks progression raiding

Filed under: Features, Interviews, 15 Minutes of Fame

15 Minutes of Fame is WoW.com’s look at World of Warcraft players of all shapes and sizes — from the renowned to the relatively anonymous, the remarkable to the player next door. Tip us off to players you’d like to hear more about.

Tales of players who succeed at WoW despite disabilities (physical disabilities, mental issues, you name it) always attract a certain amount of fascination. How is it that we can spend so much worry and effort grinding trivial hurdles while disabled players are taking care of business in situations that would Alt+F4 most of us? Worry is one thing you won’t hear much of from Quadilious, a quadriplegic player (yes, quadriplegic — you read that correctly) who’s into progression raiding (yes, progression raiding — you’re still reading things correctly) in ToC-25 Heroic and Ulduar hard modes.

Ever have one of those days when you wish your in-game struggles and real-life hurdles seemed a little less daunting? Have a good dose of perspective — Quad certainly does.

15 Minutes of Fame: Mixlering it up in world PvP

Safety is serious business on US Feathermoon (RP). The Guildwatch, Feathermoon’s Alliance global defense network of guilds and individuals, strives seven days a week to protect Alliance towns and territories from Horde attack. Sound like something that’s taken pretty seriously? That would be affirmative. Says Guildwatch leader Mixler of the group’s some 400 members, “Most of the major players Alliance-side have been members at one point or another, all of the Horde PvPers have fought us, and I believe we’re still the largest organization on Feathermoon.”

While Feathermoon is not a PvP realm (it is one of the game’s original realms, created before there were such things as RP-PvP realms), world PvP is in fact a significant part of the Feathermoon experience. The Guildwatch has played no small part in developing that legacy. 15 Minutes visited with GM Mixler for an inside look at the mechanics that keep the sprawling network working like a well-oiled machine.

Intrepid reporter and all-around cool guy Kevin Kelly over at Joystiq scored an interview with J. Allen Brack during the festivities at BlizzCon 2009. Just in case you’re not aware, J. Allen Brack is the lead producer for our beloved World of Warcraft, having joined the team back in 2005. Kevin’s a pretty smart cookie, and managed to get some great insight into the game from Brack. The interview’s worth a full read, but there’s a lot of insight that’s worth spending some time talking about.

It’s not any surprise that Brack told Kevin that there’s no end in sight for WoW, and that he expects the game to survive at least another 10 years. But Brack immediately followed up by saying that Blizzard has changed the way they view the franchise novels recently. Back in the day, it seems, they just let authors go wild. “Go off and create a kind of story in the world,” Brack told Kevin. Now, however, it seems like the creative team is spending more time trying to make sure the novels reflect what they plan in the game, as well as vice versa.

Brack confirmed that Blizzard still keeps an eye on what other games are doing, and will bring that into the World of Warcraft by giving it their own take. That comment reminded me of the discussion about upcoming Fishing changes in Cataclysm, and how the new fishing system was inspired by Animal Crossing.

World Of Warcraft Burning Crusade Collector’s Edition

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade returns you to Azeroth for incredible role-playing action! Several years have passed since the Burning Legion’s defeat at Mount Hyjal. With renewed strength, the heroes of the Horde and Alliance have begun to explore new lands and broken through the Dark Portal to investigate the realms beyond the known world. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade?

Special Collector’s Edition includes: “Art of the Burning Crusade” book, exclusive in-game pet and behind-the-scenes DVD. Also includes World of Warcraft Trading Card Game starter deck and exclusive cards, mouse pad with map of Outland & official soundtrack CD. Hundreds of new monsters, quests, and items A new profession - Jewelcrafting Ride flying mounts in Outland

Customer Review: Love this Game WOW
This is a very awesome game. You do, need to be carefully, of too much play. It is a virtual reality game with, it seems, never ending realms. You can chat and also play the game which is not too bad. I am 45 and female and it takes a little time to learn but wow lol WOW it is a WOW game lol for a chat / combat game. You need to try it before you knock it……

Customer Review: All that AND a tiny pet
I got this copy to get the free non-combat companion pet, the netherwhelp hatchling. He is SO adorable… and every single character you create or transfer to this account will get one. You can also transfer characters off that account and they will keep the pet (warning, transfer is $25 each and can not be transfered again for 30 days). To transfer a character from one account to another the name on both accounts must be the same, so don’t think you can sell characters with this pet attached to anyone willing to pay.

What I didn’t expect (because I didn’t read the product description) was the book of artwork… it’s gorgeous! It also comes with a soundrack (music you hear in the background) but if you are level 40 and lower, most of the music will be unfamiliar… perhaps I’ll hear more of it when I get to higher levels. There are also cards from the card version of the game… and quite a few, at that… a mousepad with a map of outlands on it and a DVD of how the scenery and characters were “created”… all in all, this is a pretty cool set.
